The Eight honored by Central Oregon Builders Association
The 2024 COBA Tour of Homes was held in July, and we were honored to receive four awards in the $1,730,000-$1,930,000 category.
BEST FEATURE
This is our interpretation of a floating staircase. The treads, supported by custom steel stringers, are made of solid French white oak, hand hewn by a local craftsman. Staircases are often challenging to design because they can easily become dark and heavy. In this space, the warm, blonde tones of the wood bring light and texture, and the use of glass panels provides additional light and transparency.
BEST INTERIOR FINISH
Stepping into The Eight, you will notice the spaces are not overdecorated. This is intentional because by doing more with less, the details of the home come into focus. Organic shapes soften clean lines and a neutral palette is punctuated with vibrant color that complements the views beyond. Scandinavian-inspired minimalism is combined with cozy area rugs, inviting furnishings from Bend-based Furnish, and large form mirrors, all to achieve a look that is both dramatic and welcoming.
BEST ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN
Our goal in creating The Eight was to achieve an urban contemporary look and feel that was not too trendy but would age beautifully over time. We created depth by layering colors and textures, and utilized a mix of materials, including brick, metal, frosted glass panels, and wood. Custom details such as metal-wrapped garage and front door insets will be appreciated by homeowners, and our use of L-beams is a nod to the Old Mill and its timber history.
BEST OF SHOW
Central Oregon is a place of abundance; warm light, mountain views, natural scenery, deep history. The Eight is a reflection of these elements and we worked to feature and highlight them throughout the project as a point of pride for the place we call home. That COBA recognized The Eight with its Best of Show award confirms our work and our vision.
